What is ACEforward?
The existing ACE service route (solid line) will receive new improvements and the proposed extension (dashed line) to downtown Modesto (by 2019) and downtown Merced (as early as 2023). A route connecting potential new stations at Lathrop River Islands, west of Tracy, and/or Downtown Tracy is being investigated.  In addition, potential connections to BART in Union City and the Tri-Valley are being investigated.  More information on these potential projects elements can be found under the Environment Review + Scoping tab.
More Service and Connectivity
A goal of ACEforward is to run more frequent trains that will be more reliable, safer, and faster, and help reduce highway congestion and greenhouse gas emissions.  Improving connectivity with BART in the Tri-Valley as well as the East Bay and other transit services and connecting ACE service to high-speed rail are also ACEforward goals.  In addition, ACEforward supports regional and state sustainability goals and is investigating new stations in existing downtown areas and other locations which would enable increased transit-oriented development.

Near-term Expansion
The focus of ACEforward is on near-term improvements and the extension of the existing ACE service. ACEforward is aiming to offer more service to our communities (6 daily round-trips by 2019 and 10 daily round-trips by 2023) and safety improvements such as grade crossings and additional track in key locations. SJRRC is also planning to extend ACE service to Manteca, Modesto, Turlock, and Merced, and is investigating potential stations in West Tracy, downtown Tracy, Ripon, Ceres, Livingston or Atwater, and a new Lathrop station at River Islands or a new Lathrop/Manteca stations location on the exisitng line.
